Hot Weather
2011Article posted by Gilly
For anyone reading this (and I’ve discovered that there are people who DO read my ‘blog, for which I’m grateful!) who don’t live in Western Australia, this summer has been incredibly hot and humid and not pleasant at all. True, we’ve had very few days over 40 degrees C and we normally have a run of four or five of those, but also, usually, our heat is dry and quite bearable. This year we’ve had day after day in the mid to high thirties and sticky, enervating humidity which just saps all the energy and certainly doesn’t put you in mind to be painting. (We can be grateful, ‘though, that we aren’t in Christchurch, New Zealand. Our hearts go out to all those who experienced the devastating earthquake and who have lost loved ones. A terrible tragedy.)
I was very small when I began to draw so I can’t remember when it all started. I do remember that as a little girl my bedroom walls were covered in my drawings of horses and animals and that I wrote my own stories and illustrated them - I still have some of them today.
